Pool fees and stale shares from Hong Kong latency

Operators often subtract the advertised pool fee and stop. Latency to distant stratum endpoints can raise stale shares, which means paid hashrate sits below what your miner UI boasts.

What to capture before a session

  • Pool fee percentage and payout scheme (PPS, PPLNS, etc.)
  • Stale share percentage from a typical week
  • Whether you use a local or regional endpoint

How we fold it in

In a Smart Crypto Calculator PC estimate we apply fee and an effective hashrate after stales. The difference versus “raw MH/s × coin price” is often the gap between “barely worth it” and “turn it off.”

Changing pools is not free

Migrating for a lower fee can raise stales if the new endpoint is farther. Test for a few days and bring both dashboards to a verification if you want the net compared cleanly.
